Project Onboarding

We start the process by filling out a questionnaire to get an idea of who lives in the house, how it's used, the project you want to work on, why it feels like a priority now and a bit about your personal style.

House Visit & Consultation

During the consulting session, we complete the process together. To start, we take a walk through your home to determine any problem areas and what’s preventing you from using the space effectively and start to ideate and envision a solution together. This is also a great opportunity to chat all things design and colour and bring up any questions you might have.

Shareable Solutions Document Mood Boards

From there, I craft a creative direction in the form of a mood board and a thorough and organized document of recommended solutions and options for how you can move forward. This is a digital document that can be easily referenced during your project and shared with your contractor and all parties involved to ensure everyone’s on the same page throughout the project from start to finish, saving you hours of communication time and mitigating the number of mistakes along the way.

Project Onboarding

We start the process by filling out a questionnaire to get an idea of who lives in the house, how it's used, the project you want to work on, why it feels like a priority now and a bit about your personal style.

Home Visit & Consultation

I’ll always start off the design process with a home visit and consultation. This is where we’ll identify any functional goals of the space and talk about style, colour, layout, lighting, a little bit of everything!

Before tackling your specific room, we’ll talk about the overall aesthetic and functionality you want to achieve in your home as a whole. Once we’ve determined this direction, we’ll dig into the room you’ve chosen, come up with a layout, and colour scheme as well as furniture and decor items that make sense for the space and feel like a true reflection of you and the kind of environment you want to achieve with your home.

Design Guidance and Sourcing

I’ll include links to specific items for purchase and help you source any furniture or decor. I am happy to be as involved as you need me to be, including doing the shopping for you or being that extra set of eyes accompanying you to showrooms. If you're keen on picking out the items yourself and would like to just send them over to me for a second opinion and to add to our ongoing mood boards to ensure that it's the right piece for your room, that's more than welcome here!

PHASE ONE: Functional Layouts

Rendering*

We'll measure and build out a simple rendering of the space to have a visual representation of what the layout of the room could look like. This is a great way for you to get an idea of the possibilities and have something organized and solid to present to potential contractors to receive accurate quotes.

*Note: 1 layout revision is included in this phase.

Kitchen & bathroom renovations are much larger projects that require a broader scope of work due to all of the extra moving parts, the bigger, more permanent design decisions, and outsourcing work to contractors and professional teams.

With my background, of closely working with contractors on kitchen renovations, this is something I am highly skilled and passionate about. I’m confident in creating the most functional design for any space, and I really mean any. I’m even more passionate and confident that I can help you design a functional space that not only feels great but works well within your budget.

Not only do I come in to consult with the overall space and offer solution suggestions, but I am also able to come alongside to help you make those big design decisions and am only a text or email away to help you choose even the smallest design details.

Sometimes all a client requires is help creating a functional layout and sometimes they're looking for total project guidance from start to finish. We complete these projects in two phases, so you can take what you need and leave what you don't.

Form Meets Function

What to Expect from our time together

All of it! I will come to your home, learn about your desires and needs, and then help you come up with a plan that makes sense for your project. Whether you are re-decorating, painting or doing a full-scale renovation, I can help you figure out what it is that you want and make a plan to take the guesswork and stress out of the proces

02. Which parts of a renovation do you cover?

As an Interior Consultant, I am well versed in the whole renovation process from construction planning to finishes and furnishings. I offer these skills to you through a sort of a la carte style by charging hourly. This allows you to use my skill set where you need it (maybe you really need someone to design you a functional layout but feel confident about choosing your own finishes. Or maybe I consult through the entire process but if there is any legwork to be done, like picking up samples, you can take care of that yourself instead of paying me to do it) but save money on not having to commit to an interior designer for the entire project.

01. How does the process work?

Ask me Anything

This could be handy for a couple different reasons, depending on the project. I typically provide a spreadsheet (google) where I list out all the items that need to be sourced and finishes that need to be chosen. This is especially helpful in a larger project like a kitchen or bathroom where multiple fixtures and/or appliances need to be purchased. It keeps everything organized, is an easy thing to share with your contractor (if you are working with one) and it's always saved there so if a couple years down the road you need to do some paint touch ups or reference the style of baseboard you used when doing other house projects, it's all there still for you!

04. Why do i need the shareable solutions document Handy?

I charge an hourly rate and I bill out monthly for the work completed. This ensures that you can stay on top of how much you are spending and also don't get surprised by any large, unexpected bills at the end of the project. Also, since a lot of projects can span a large timeline (first meeting, initial layouts to pitch to contractors, could take a while for you to get the contractor lined up, etc, so you may take a small break from design until you have that part of the job figured out, then you come back to me to help finish up design and sourcing) there's no commitment on your end to be paying for a designer who isn't currently working on your project.

03. How do you charge for your work?
